Today, the Donegal Volunteer Centre proudly celebrates an incredible milestone — 20 years of compassion, dedication, and service from the amazing Kathy O’Connor.
What began in 2005 as a simple but powerful idea hosting a Christmas Day dinner in Conwal Parish Hall to combat loneliness and isolation, has grown into a tradition of kindness that ensures no one feels forgotten on Christmas and New Year’s Day. For two decades, Kathy has given her time, heart, and energy to make sure everyone has a warm meal and a welcoming place on those special days.
Alongside her wonderful volunteers, Karen Anderson, Pauline Moyles Robinson, and Raymond Holmes. Kathy was honoured today with a Donegal Volunteer Centre badge and a specially designed print, in recognition of their selfless service.
As Manager Eamonn Bonner so beautifully said, so much of what this team does happens quietly, behind the scenes, but the impact is enormous. Their kindness reminds us that one person’s compassion can light the way for an entire community.
Thank you, Kathy and team, for showing us what true generosity looks like.
