3 Steps to Finding Volunteers

- GETTING STARTED
Register your Organisation
This is a one-time registration process. On approval you will receive an ‘Organisation Key’ (number code) which you will then use to register your volunteer opportunities.

- LISTING YOUR POSITION
Submit your Opportunities
Using your Organisation Key, we will take you step by step through your Volunteer Opportunity submission process. We will then proactively advertise your vacancy and aim to promote it to suitable volunteers.

Keeping in Touch
We ask that you keep in touch with us and keep us updated on changes to the position(s) listed, the status of the opportunity and information on successful referrals to help stay effective in our selection process.
- DONEGAL VOLUNTEER CENTRE
Working with Organisations
Donegal Volunteer Centre is a free matching service which encourages people to become involved in volunteering across the county. Our role is to provide information and advice to people interested in volunteering and to organisations looking for volunteers. We work with community and voluntary organisations to gather information about their volunteering needs and in the process offer support and advice on good practice in volunteer management.
- Who Will We Work With?
Donegal Volunteer Centre will work with any not-for-profit organisation – this may include charities, community groups, co-operatives and statutory organisations such as nursing homes, schools, hospitals, etc. We may ask to see your constitution or set of rules to clarify this. We will not seek volunteers for individuals or for for-profit organisations.

Donegal Volunteer Centre works with the national network of volunteer centres and the national volunteer development agency Volunteer Ireland to create guidance and support documents for organisations and volunteers. - Information & Support on recruiting and managing volunteers
Donegal Volunteer Centre can provide advice and guidance, or access to information, on a range of issues related to managing volunteers. This might relate to Information & Support on recruitment of volunteers, how to motivate volunteers, dealing with difficult situations etc. This support is available on request so please feel free to contact us by phone or by email.
- Garda Vetting
Donegal Volunteer Centre provides a Garda Vetting service to voluntary organisations that do not have access to their own Liaison Person. A Liasion Person is someone who has been trained by An Garda Siochana in the correct administration of Garda Vetting. Because not all small organisations are able to access this Garda training, we may act as Liasion Person on their behalf. We require all new affiliate organisations to attend Garda Vetting training with us before using this service. The training is free of charge. - KNOW THE FACTS
Volunteering & Social Welfare
As an organisation who involves volunteers, you may be required to register your intention to involve volunteers who are in receipt of Social Welfare benefits with the local Social Welfare Office. This will probably come about when a volunteer presents you with a VW1 Form to sign.
- THE FACTS
This form is about making sure your organisation is one who genuinely involves volunteers for genuine reasons and that you are not ‘paying’ volunteers of replacing paid work with volunteers.
Having a VW1 Form completed in respect of volunteers in receipt of benefits protects both sides.
